Edward’s Roofing & Exteriors was founded in 2002 by Edward Aguado, but his roofing career started years earlier. At 16, Edward took his first job on a roofing crew during the summer of 1992, working as a laborer who set up and cleaned job sites. He was drawn to the trade quickly, drawn in by the variety of being outside and on a new site nearly every day. Within a few years, he moved into installation and repair work, learning the trade hands-on across several crews and contractors.
By 2002, after working for four different roofing contractors, Edward had learned to install and repair nearly every sloped roofing system on the market, as well as a range of commercial flat-roof applications. That year, he registered Edwards Roofing & Repair with the Missouri Secretary of State and set out on his own.
From One-Man Operation to Full-Time Roofing Company
Edward started small: a couple of hired hands, a ladder strapped to his Nissan Pathfinder, a few tear-off shovels, and an air compressor. For nearly seven years, he balanced independent contracting with subcontracting work for other roofing companies to keep a steady income. Through it all, he held to one rule: never leave a customer unhappy, no matter what it took.
That consistency paid off. By the end of 2008, Edward’s growing customer base allowed him to leave subcontracting behind for good. He brought on a dedicated crew of roofing installers, many of whom still work for the company today, as well as dedicated gutter and siding crews.
During this period, Edwards Roofing & Repair also became a credentialed GAF contractor and earned an A+ accredited rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Growing Into Commercial Roofing and Exterior Services
By 2011, Edward’s Roofing & Exteriors had built lasting relationships with major clients, including Mercy and The Wellington Group, and had earned the trust of local insurance agents who relied on Edward’s honest assessments of storm and wind damage claims. The team’s capabilities expanded to cover commercial roofing systems of any size or application.
